A Prescription to Advance Men's Health

Amber Beals, PharmD

Clinical Pharmacy Services, Celebration Health, Celebration, Florida

Pharmacists are in a unique position to have a positive effect on men's health in areas such as health care use, smoking cessation, and appropriate use of over-the-counter medications and nutraceuticals. Perhaps pharmacists' greatest opportunity to affect men's health is in the area of medication adherence. This article discusses specific ways that pharmacists can find a niche to help improve the overall health of American men as part of the interdisciplinary health care team.

Key Words: pharmacists • pharmacist-run clinics • men's health • adherence • smoking cessation
